An upgrade of the Greenvale Reservoir Park in Melbourne’s north will improve liveability and revitalise a valuable recreational area for generations to come.
The $1.4 million Melbourne Water upgrade will help better meet the needs of communities in the fast-growing outer suburbs of Melbourne.
Parks, schools, ambulance sites and public transport are all important pieces of infrastructure that contribute to a community’s liveability, health and vibrancy.
The upgrade aims to improve the park with:
- better access at Somerton Road, Greenvale
- renewed visitor facilities at the main picnic areas, shelters, BBQs and seating, and children’s playground
- a new walking and cycling area in the north of the park
- new toilet facilities at the Cypress Picnic Area and Brodies Lakes Picnic Area.
The upgrade follows remediation work by Melbourne Water in 2014 to strengthen the dam wall and better protect the reservoir’s water resource in the face of a growing population and urban development in the area.
A community open day will be held from 10.30am to 1pm on Sunday 5 February and will include opportunities to view draft plans, as well as chat with the landscape designer and Parks Victoria staff.
