The Andrews Labor Government is taking important action to protect the future of Victoria’s alpine resorts.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio today announced the government would implement a new governance model and refresh the three northern Alpine Resort Management Boards.
The Labor Government will shortly be inviting expressions of interest for 13 positions across the boards responsible for managing Falls Creek, Mt Buller, Mt Stirling and Mt Hotham alpine resorts.
Each board will be made up of three unique members – while four common members will be appointed to all three boards.
This will improve coordination and provide better strategic planning and oversight.
Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council membership will also be refreshed – the Southern Alpine Resort Management Board membership will remain unchanged.
In the 2016/17 winter and summer months – the alpine industry contributed $911 million to the Victorian economy and created more than 9,000 jobs.
The Government will continue supporting our vital alpine resorts to create new tourism opportunities, grow local economies and create jobs.
