NIGHT OF RACING FUN HELPS SPORTS GROUPS IN BALLARAT

Hundreds of racegoers are expected to head to Morshead Park tomorrow night for the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club’s premier race meeting.

The Andrews Labor Government is contributing almost $9,000 through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund towards this year’s greyhound Ballarat Cup.

The event will help support local sports groups, with the club making a $10 donation for each local sports club member in attendance. The group with the most members on track will win $1,000.

Entry is free and patrons will be treated to live music from Big City Beat between races. A designated family zone will feature face painting and jumping castles for children.

Greyhound Racing Victoria is providing more than $7,000 towards the event and the club is contributing $6,000.

Since 2014, the Labor Government has contributed more than $171,000 to support three infrastructure projects and five greyhound racing events in Ballarat.

The racing industry in the Central Highlands Region generates more than $96 million annually for the Victorian economy and helps sustain more than 950 full-time equivalent jobs in the region.
