New School Buildings And Sports Area In Greensborough

16 August 2018

Students in Greensborough now have the modern classrooms, sporting facilities and buildings they need for a first-rate education, thanks to a $10 million upgrade by the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Bundoora Colin Brooks today visited Greensborough Secondary College to open the school’s new sports hall, senior school and specialist centre.

The new senior school features four classrooms, an information centre, project space, study areas, seminar rooms and spaces for art, graphics and design, while the specialist centre provides areas for food tech and performing arts, as well as lecture spaces and music rooms.

Students and the broader Greensborough community will also have access to a new sports hall, which includes a full-size court for netball, basketball, volleyball as well as three badminton courts.

The Labor Government has invested an unprecedented $3.8 billion in school infrastructure over the past four Budgets to ensure it can continue to cater for the estimated 90,000 students who are expected to enter the school system over the next five years.

This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Education James Merlino

“The upgrades to Greensborough Secondary College reflect how modern learning is changing so we can better prepare our young people for the 21st century.”
