New Netball Hub For Richmond At Melbourne Girls

16 October 2018

Players from Richmond Netball Association and Melbourne Girls College can now showcase their skills at Melbourne’s newest netball hub thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Sport John Eren today joined Member for Richmond Richard Wynne at Melbourne Girls College to officially open the three new courts which were made possible by $9.6 million from the Labor Government’s Inner City Netball Program.

These new netball courts will help address the booming local demand for netball and allow students at Melbourne Girls College to further develop their skills, get active and host school sports.

Nearby teams, including those that belong to the 950 strong Richmond Netball Association, now also have an alternative venue to train, stage development programs and host competitions day and night.

Other Inner City Netball Program projects in the area include two new courts at Richmond West Primary School, three courts at Richmond High School and four courts and a new pavilion at Ryan’s Reserve, home of the Richmond Netball Association.

The Labor Government’s Inner City Netball Program is funding new netball courts and upgrading old ones where they’re needed most, and ensuring everyone who wants to play has access to safe and modern facilities.

Mr Eren and Mr Wynne acknowledged the Victorian School Building Authority and Melbourne Girls College for their support.
