Vital justice services can now be accessed at a new hub in the Melbourne CBD, improving services for Victorians.
Minister for Corrections Ben Carroll today officially open the Melbourne Justice Service Centre, at 50 Franklin Street in the CBD which was previously home to Qantas and Trans Australia Airlines.
Members of the community can visit the centre to make sheriff payments, submit births, deaths and marriage applications and to seek advice on consumer affairs issues.
It serves the dual role of delivering key services to the community, as well as providing court-ordered supervision and treatment to offenders on community-based orders.
50 Franklin Street has allowed the Department of Justice and Community Safety to centralise a range of services that were previously delivered across a number of locations.
The building will also be the new home for the Adult Parole Board, the Post Sentence Authority and a number of specialist Corrections Victoria staff, including Community Correctional Services officers.
The new centre, which can accommodate around 750 staff, replaces the nearby Carlton Justice Service Centre.
