29 August 2017

The Andrews Labor Government will provide $1.3 million to the Brotherhood of St Laurence to support jobseekers across the Moonee Valley region.

Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan announced that the not-for-profit agency will receive funding through Jobs Victoria to place 80 jobseekers into work. The program will be delivered from the Flemington Community Centre.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence works with more than 110 employers across Melbourne to place long-term jobseekers into ongoing employment.

The Labor Government is extending the Jobs Victoria program by giving an additional $11.6 million to 13 agencies across Victoria, which will place 1200 disadvantaged jobseekers in work.

The $68 million Jobs Victoria program has now placed more than 1700 long-term jobseekers in work which equates to more than 40 jobs a week since the program began 11 months ago.

This is another key milestone in the Labor Government’s drive to place more than 5000 long-term jobseekers into meaningful work across the state.
