New Funding For Multicultural Community Infrastructure

16 October 2018

More than 45 culturally diverse community organisations across Victoria will share in more than $7.5 million from the Andrews Labor Government to support restoration and construction of community facilities.

The Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund supports Victoria’s communities to feel connected with their traditional culture as they participate in and contribute to our wider society.

The Labor Government is promoting an inclusive society where every Victorian is able to preserve and share their culture and traditions, and have spaces that they can make their own.

Projects include the development of a Greek Community Centre in Mulgrave, a new multifunctional community centre in Ravenhall for the African community and Victoria’s first ever meeting hub in Dandenong dedicated to Victoria’s 40,000 strong Tamil community.

All projects will increase access to safe and functional facilities that enable diverse communities across the state to access services, participate in activities and share their cultures with the wider Victorian community.

More than 70 applications were submitted to the 2018-19 Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund by both new and established community groups across regional Victoria and metropolitan areas.
