The Andrews Labor Government will provide more than $3 million to over 60 culturally diverse community organisations across Victoria to support the restoration or construction of community facilities and cultural precincts.
This funding will be provided through the Labor Government’s Community Infrastructure and Cultural Precincts (CICP) program.
CICP promotes greater use of community facilities by Victoria’s culturally diverse communities, increasing their participation in activities, improving access to services and enabling Victoria’s cultural precincts to remain attractive for cultural and tourism activities.
The Labor Government is promoting an inclusive society where every Victorian can preserve and share their culture and traditions in spaces of their own heritage.
Projects that will be funded include:
- a ‘Diversability Centre’ project in Norland of Greater Geelong City Council, to create open plan office spaces and meeting spaces for diverse communities and the wider community
- a Space 2b Design project in St Kilda to upgrade an existing community centre as a community enterprise that runs employment pathway programs to culturally diverse communities
- And upgrading the Hindu Society of Victoria’s car park in Carrum Downs.
All funded projects will increase diverse communities’ access to good, functional facilities that enable them to better use services, participate in activities and share their cultures with the wider Victorian community.
