New Chair Of The Victorian Managed Insurance Authority

The Andrews Labor Government has appointed Elana Rubin as the new Chair of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA).

Ms Rubin replaces outgoing Chair John Peberdy, whose term expires on 5 September.

A member of the VMIA board since last year, Ms Rubin is one of five women on the seven-member board.

She has more than 20 years of experience at an executive or board level in the financial services industry. She is currently a non-executive director of a number of boards, including Mirvac Group and ME Bank, and a director of the Victorian Funds Management Corporation.

She is a former Chair of the Victorian WorkCover Authority Board and a former director of the Transport Accident Commission.

She has been appointed on a two-year term.

Established in 1996, the VMIA is a government-owned enterprise that insures and works with clients to reduce risks and recover from crisis events. The VMIA provides domestic building insurance to more than 15,000 Victorian residential builders.

VMIA’s clients include Victorian Government departments, hospitals, tertiary institutions, national parks and museums, with the VMIA’s portfolio representing approximately $195 billion in assets.
