The Andrews Labor Government is helping local music industry professionals connect with global music companies through its inaugural Music Passport Fast Track Fellowships program.
Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley today announced the fellowship recipients, saying the program is opening up international opportunities for local artists.
Local music managers Charlotte Abroms of Hear Hear Music and Guy Blackman of Chapter Music, and label managers Tom Fraser of Pieater and Amy Chapman of Wantok Music are the first recipients of the Fellowships.
The program is rolled out in partnership with the Association of Artist Managers and Australian Independent Record Labels Association.
It will take local artist and label managers to music hotspots like London and Los Angeles to learn from the teams behind globally successful bands such as Mumford & Sons and The War on Drugs.
Music Passport is part of the Labor Government’s landmark $22.2 million Music Works strategy to bolster the state’s music industry at every level.
The fellowships will strengthen global connections and pave the way for Victorian artists to break into international markets.
