Thousands of people are unaware that they are sitting on an unexpected windfall of unclaimed money in Mildura.
More than $900,000 is waiting to be claimed, ranging from $20 all the way up to the area’s single biggest entitlement of just over $25,000 for a Mildura woman, followed by $22,000 for a couple in Cardross.
The State Revenue Office holds records of money that remain unclaimed after 12 months. This includes share dividends, salaries and wages, rents and bonds, debentures and interest, and proceeds from sales.
Latest figures in Mildura show this equalled 8953 individual entitlements for suburbs including Birdwoodton, Colignan, Merbein, Ouyen, and Werrimull. Across Victoria, there are more than 800,000 entitlements waiting to be claimed.
Mildura leads with $587,239 (5963 entitlements), followed by Red Cliffs ($81,546 for 814 entitlements) and Irymple ($52,121 for 555 entitlements).
