Melbourne Startups To Create 70 New Tech Jobs

18 May 2016

One of Australia’s largest digital marketing agencies, Web Marketing Experts (WME), and its mobile-focused offshoot Appscore are set to add 70 new jobs to their Victorian workforce in the next 12 months.

Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade Philip Dalidakis officially opened the new Australian and Global HQ in Melbourne today, congratulating the agencies on the expansion of their 200-strong workforce and their work for Victoria’s booming tech sector.

In less than a decade, WME has expanded to become a full service online marketing company with a global reach, earning annual revenues of $46 million and employing more than 439 people across seven countries.

Its mobile-focused offshoot Appscore is recognised as one of Australia’s most dynamic digital agencies specialising in developing mobile marketing applications for websites.

The new Melbourne space, located on Spencer Street, is also designed to include a dedicated ‘tech hub’ where entrepreneurs can collaborate and mentors will be available to help early-stage tech startups.

This aligns with the Andrews Labor Government’s investment in Victoria’s startup sector and the $60 million LaunchVic initiative that will provide local startups with the support they need to grow and create jobs.

WME’s plans to expand their Victorian workforce also highlights the growing strength of state’s tech industry, with this expansion also following moves by a growing list of global tech leaders including Zendesk, GoPro, Square and Slack, to set up a regional HQs in Melbourne.
