The Liberals have forfeited their right to ever lecture anyone on honesty or probity again, after disgracing themselves to vote down vital reform for Victoria’s fire services, including long-fought for cancer rights for firefighters.
The Andrews Labor Government is committed to passing this legislation to ensure our fire services are brought out of the 1950s to be the modern emergency services our state deserves.
We are currently considering all parliamentary avenues to see the passage of this legislation at the earliest possible opportunity – to correct the abuse of the Parliament that we witnessed today.
The Liberals pleaded for pairs for religious observance, which were granted, and they then reneged on those pairs.
They have disgraced themselves – abusing and then sacrificing their religious beliefs for political gain.
In doing so they have voted down changes that will make Victorians safer and give firefighters long over-due cancer rights.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
