Landmarks Light Up To Raise Awareness Of Road Trauma

07 May 2017

Some of Melbourne’s iconic landmarks will be illuminated yellow this week, to raise awareness of road trauma and support those affected by it.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Luke Donnellan, today joined Assistant Commissioner Doug Fryer and Road Trauma Support Services Volunteers James Thompson and Tarli Bogtstra to launch the annual Shine a Light on Road Safety campaign.

Some of Victoria’s most iconic buildings are being lit up in the campaign's trademark yellow, including Parliament House, the Bolte Bridge, the Art Centre Spire, Victorian State Library, AAMI Park, the Carousel Geelong, Box Hill Town Hall and the Ballarat Town Hall.

Victorian motorists are also being invited to turn on their headlights when driving on Friday 6 May to show their commitment to road safety and remember those who we have lost.

Victorian motorists are being urged to get behind the Shine a Light on Road Safety campaign, with the number of lives lost on Victorian roads, higher than the same time last year.

Road Trauma Support Services Victoria play a vital role in helping Victorians whose lives have been profoundly affected by road trauma.
