Grassroots sports clubs will be able to open more doors for locals to play the game they love, with a new sports hub ready for action in Kyabram.
Minister for Sport John Eren today visited the redeveloped Northern Oval, made possible by a $650,000 grant from the Victorian Government.
Record numbers of people in the Campaspe Shire are signing up to play grassroots sports, and they deserve modern and inclusive facilities, close to home.
The massive Northern Oval redevelopment features two soccer pitches, two football/cricket ovals, new lighting, six hard courts for netball and tennis, and an upgrade of the fire brigade running track.
It’s the first dedicated football facility in the Campaspe Shire and will give clubs in Kyabram the room they need to grow and welcome more members than ever before.
Mr Eren also inspected works at the Rochester Lawn Tennis Club, where the Andrews Labor Government is building two Tennis Australia-approved hard courts with synthetic grass and four light poles.
The Labor Government is delivering $100,000 towards the project through the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund, giving players safer access to the courts so they can play all year round – day or night.
The Victorian Budget 2017/18 invested $332.8 million to improve sports facilities – from grassroots to elite – to cement Victoria as the sporting capital of Australia.
