Getting to this year’s Avalon Airshow will be cheaper and more convenient than ever before thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
In a Victorian first, passengers can buy public transport tickets at a 25 per cent discount when they purchase their ticket to the Avalon Airshow, with extra trains and buses getting people to and from the three-day showcase.
Passengers will also be able to use the ticket to travel on Melbourne’s public transport and Geelong’s local bus network during the three-day event.
Public Transport Victoria and V/Line have scheduled more than 70 additional train services during the event to make it easier for people travelling from Melbourne and Geelong.
Those travelling by train will arrive at Lara Train Station before boarding a high-frequency shuttle to the airfield.
The popular airshow, now in its 31st year, will take place between March 1 and 3 at Avalon Airport and is expected to attract almost 200,000 people.
Train ticket prices range from $2.50 for Concession passengers travelling from Geelong to $20 for a family from Melbourne if purchased online with an Airshow ticket.
The Airshow Express Public Transport Ticket is available on the Ticketmaster website in addition to their entry ticket, making the journey easier for fans.
The express bus from Lara to the Airshow is a 15 minutes journey with a special bus lane to and from station. PTV, V/Line and CDC staff (who will running the express shuttle) will be on site during peak periods to monitor public transport operations.
