Giving Kyneton Students A Great Local School

24 October 2018

Students in Kyneton now have access to the first-rate classrooms and facilities they deserve thanks to the Andrews Labor Government, with the official opening of the new Kyneton Primary School.

Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Macedon Mary Anne Thomas today joined local students on a tour of the new $11.5 million primary school.

The school comprises of three buildings, playgrounds and outdoor spaces. It includes flexible classrooms, specialist learning facilities for physical education, music, art, a multipurpose room, canteen and kitchen, as well as outdoor learning areas.

Classrooms have been designed to accommodate single or multi-year learning, which will give the school community the ability to cater for changing enrolment figures and teaching methods.

The school’s design has been developed with the philosophy that all areas, including outdoor facilities, are potential learning spaces.

Located on a 3.5-hectare site close to the existing Kyneton Secondary College, the new school is part of the Kyneton Education Precinct which brings together the area’s educational facilities - with early years to VCE established in one place.

This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.
