Getting Kinders Refurbished And IT-Ready For The Future

18 March 2018

The Andrews Labor Government is helping kindergartens expand and refurbish their centres and giving them access to the latest technology.

Minister for Early Childhood Education Jenny Mikakos today announced funding was available for Victorian kindergartens to help those that need minor infrastructure improvements or a boost to their IT capabilities.

Applications for the 2018-19 Children’s Facilities Capital Program Minor Grants round are now open with funding available through three grants categories.

Applicants – such as local government and not-for-profit service providers – are encouraged to apply for minor infrastructure expansion grants of up to $25,000 that will increase the usable space of a licenced service.

Minor infrastructure refurbishment grants of up to $10,000 can be used to improve any indoor or outdoor spaces used by children, particularly where they are designed to improve access for children of all abilities.

Information technology grants of up to $1,500 are also available to purchase desktops, laptops, tablets and televisions that are used as part of learning programs or for administration use.

The Labor Government is delivering a record $76.4 million to build, expand and improve early years infrastructure across Victoria to ensure local families can continue to access great local kindergartens, including $10 million targeting growth areas.

Families are set to benefit from the Government’s $202.1 million Education State Early Childhood Reform Plan, which provides strong support in early childhood so kids are ready for kinder and ready for school.

Applications close on 31 May 2018 and must be submitted online. For more information, visit schoolbuildings.vic.gov.auExternal Link .
