Geelong’s growing northern suburbs now have access to more high-quality health services with the opening of the new state-of-the-art Barwon Health North facility built by the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos today officially opened the new $33 million flagship health hub in Geelong, designed to give local families the world-class health care they deserve – right on their doorstep.
Barwon Health North will offer a walk-in urgent care centre, medical imaging facilities, child and family services, renal dialysis, pathology and specialty clinics - open from 8am to 10pm every day.
Patients will be able to access a range of health services at the walk-in urgent care centre including treatment for sprains, cuts, minor fractures and infections, to help take pressure off University Hospital Geelong’s busy emergency department
The walk-in urgent care centre will be open from 2pm to 10pm every day and provide added flexibility to meet the changing health needs of residents in Corio, Norlane and surrounding communities
Barwon Health North is the latest example of the Labor Government delivering more health services for regional Victoria and improving access to critical care closer to home.
The Victorian Budget 2019/20 delivers a $2.5 billion boost to Victorian hospitals which will help meet the needs of our growing state, meaning more patients than ever are receiving high quality care.
The Government has committed $7 billion on health infrastructure statewide, delivering the largest health building program in Victoria’s history.
