Nominations have opened for the eighth annual Victorian Disability Awards – recognising outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations to improve the lives of vulnerable people.
Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing Martin Foley said the awards were an opportunity to highlight the achievements of people with a disability, and showcase the important work being done across the disability services sector.
Nominations can be made by members of the public – from carers and organisations to people with disabilities who want to recognise the amazing contribution of others.
There are seven award categories, including the Lifetime Achievement honour roll which recognises exceptional individuals who have contributed to the lives of people with a disability for more than 20 years.
The inaugural Minister’s Award for Outstanding Leadership is given to an awards finalist who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership as a disability advocate.
The awards are a joint initiative between National Disability Services and the Department of Health and Human Services, with the finalists selected by a judging panel drawn from Victoria’s disability services.
