Courting Success In Horsham, Kalkee And Natimuk

19 September 2019

Four sporting precincts in and around Horsham have been upgraded, thanks to a funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government.

The projects were made possible thanks to more than $390,000 in support from the Labor Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund and Country Football and Netball Program.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula was at Horsham City Bowling Club today to officially open a competition-standard synthetic green that will allow significant savings on maintenance and watering.

At Central Park in Horsham there are two new netball/tennis courts and upgraded drainage.

Natimuk United Football Netball Club has new lights and the Rams footballers have made the most of their improved training conditions, playing finals for the first time since 1997.

Tennis and netball players in the Kalkee region are celebrating the construction of two multi-sport courts and the upgrading of lighting at Kalkee Tennis Club.

The Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is part of the Labor Government’s commitment to sport and active recreation, gender equality and encouraging all Victorians to get out there and get active.

The Country Football and Netball Program is a Government partnership with the AFL, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria. Labor launched the Country Football and Netball Program in 2005 and since then the program has provided more than $26.6 million to 480 projects across the state.

The Labor Government has invested more than $850 million in new community sport and recreation facilities since 2014.
