Continuing The Conversation In The Goulburn Region

29 August 2017

Representatives from the local community, industry and the Andrews Labor Government will come together tonight in Seymour for the 2017 Goulburn Regional Assembly.

Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford said the Assembly was an important opportunity to discuss the future of the region, its priorities, and the Labor Government’s ongoing partnership with local communities.

Last year’s inaugural Goulburn Regional Assembly in Shepparton identified a range of priorities, including agriculture and health, as well as support for peri urban growth, economic diversification, young people and digital connectivity.

The Goulburn Regional Partnership has started seeing the results of its hard work with the Labor Government funding the development of a business case for the Munarra Centre of Excellence in the Goulburn Murray – a state of the art Indigenous sporting, cultural and education precinct.

The region is also receiving funding to support the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District master plan, and will share in the $45 million Connecting Regional Communities Program to support digital initiatives.

Tonight’s assembly is an opportunity to identify further priorities, and speak with Goulburn regional communities and businesses on what matters most to them.

The Partnership has held four workshops in the lead up to tonight’s main event at Alexandra, Nagambie, Shepparton and Broadford to gain a better understanding of the critical challenges and potential solutions.

The Goulburn Regional Assembly is the latest of the nine assemblies taking place across Victoria. Regional Victorians are encouraged to register and have their say at engage.regions.vic.gov.au.
