Contemporary Classrooms For Hughesdale Primary

08 October 2019

Hughesdale Primary School students will benefit from a series of new modern classrooms, thanks to a $3.5 million investment by the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino and the Member for Oakleigh Steve Dimopoulos today visited Hughesdale Primary School to officially open the new, modern facilities.

This includes a double-storey classroom block with eight new classrooms, four small group spaces, new student and staff amenities, designed to support contemporary teaching and learning.

The new group learning spaces aim to encourage students to work together, while the additional break out areas are designed for continued discussion, to foster a culture of growth and curiosity throughout the school.

For nearly 100 years, Hughesdale Primary School has provided a first-rate education while strengthening family and community engagement.

The Labor Government is investing record funding in our schools to make Victoria the Education State. The Government has committed to opening 100 new schools by 2026 and upgrading more than 1,400 existing schools.

This investment ensures that every child has access to a great education and that our schools can cater for Victoria’s rapidly-growing population.

Modern learning environments help develop creative thinking, promote STEM literacy, and inspire learning for life, all of which are critical skills for future success. New and modern school buildings contribute to school pride for students, parents and the wider community, building their engagement with education.

By reforming schools, the Labor Government is transforming communities. By sharing sport, cultural and health facilities, schools are becoming neighbourhood hubs.
