A developer and operator has been selected for a new aged care facility in Melbourne’s south east, specifically catering for the needs of Victoria’s ageing Chinese community.
Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing, Martin Foley and Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Robin Scott announced today the facility would be delivered by the Chinese Community Council of Australia, Victorian Chapter (CCCAV).
CCCAV will work with the support of Doutta Galla Aged Services - an experienced not-for-profit provider with a focus on cultural diversity and inclusion.
The two organisations were chosen after a thorough evaluation process, which took into account the intentions, track-record, staffing and networks of each proposal.
The new Chinese aged care facility will offer around 90 places for residents and prioritise the language, cultural and dietary needs of its elderly residents.
Located on the corner of Coomoora and Darren Roads in Springvale South, the facility is expected to be completed in 2022.
This project is part of the Andrews Labor Government’s long-term plans to develop culturally appropriate aged care supports across Victoria.
