Central Goldfields Shire Council Dismissed

23 August 2017

The Bill to dismiss the Central Goldfields Shire Council passed Parliament this evening, paving the way for local residents to get the local representation they deserve.

Minister for Local Government Natalie Hutchins introduced the Bill earlier today in response to last week’s damning report by the Local Government Investigations and Compliance Inspectorate.

Once the Bill receives Royal Assent, the Council will be legally dismissed and an interim administrator will be installed to perform the roles and functions of the council.

The Government will appoint three administrators who will act as the Council until the next election in October 2020.
