Calling All Green Thumbs For Victoria In Bloom

23 October 2017

Flowers are blooming across the state and Victorians are encouraged to recognise some of our most glorious gardens with the Victoria in Bloom competition.

Minister for Housing Martin Foley today invited public or community-managed housing tenants who maintain and produce exceptional gardens to enter the annual competition.

Victoria in Bloom recognises tenants who maintain gardens in their neighbourhood and celebrates the hard work they put in to producing some of the most attractive and sustainable gardens in their communities.

Whether you have a backyard, a balcony, an enclosed garden or a container garden, there’s an opportunity for everyone to participate.

Last year’s Gardener of the Year award winner was Dennis Troedel, for his sustainable oasis on Hoddle St in Abbotsford.

This year’s categories include:

  • Best Balcony Garden
  • Best Small Enclosed or Container Garden
  • Best Household Garden
  • Best Edible Garden
  • Best Sustainable Garden
  • Best Common area Garden
  • Best Community Garden Plot
  • Best Young Gardener

Entries close on 1 December, 2017.
