Business Grants Open The Gateway To Asian Markets

16 August 2018

The Andrews Labor Government is helping Victorian businesses tap into the fast-growing markets of Asia with $1 million for a fresh round of vouchers to help companies boost exports and create local jobs.

The second round of Boost Your Business Asia Gateway vouchers will help more than 30 local businesses from industries as varied as food and wine, ICT, sport, education, aged care, skin care, tourism, mining and architecture to take the very best of Victoria’s goods and services to Asia.

Asia Gateway has now allocated a total of $2 million and is providing more than 50 Victorian businesses with vital support to create jobs and improve their growth in Asian markets.

Boost Your Business vouchers are also available in streams including advanced manufacturing, food innovation and social enterprise capability, defence, aerospace and security and Victoria-Israel Innovation.

The Asia Gateway voucher stream helps businesses partner with regional and industry experts to access the tools they need to succeed in lucrative Asian markets.

Support can include tailoring marketing and products to new markets, undertaking research and development, strengthening networks, building relationships, and gaining certifications.

Minister for Trade and Investment Philip Dalidakis today visited voucher recipient Picnic Dairy, which manufactures premium traditional dairy and dip products for local and export markets. The company plans to use its voucher to break into the growing market of Malaysia and boost sales to Singapore.

Singapore is a nation of around 5.5 million people and imports over 90 per cent of its food due to limited agricultural land. Malaysia has recently experienced a rapid increase in dairy consumption, importing more than 50,000 tonnes of dairy products a year.
