Victorians in regional areas will have access to additional education and training support at Learn Local organisations thanks to a $2.6 million funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney joined members of the Paynesville Neighbourhood Centre today to make the announcement and launch the East Gippsland 2017 Adult Learners Week campaign.
Each year, Learn Local organisations help more than 50,000 Victorians develop new skills, return to study, improve their reading, writing and maths, and pursue their goals of getting work or going on to further education.
The additional funding will effectively lift the current subsidies for pre-accredited training in regional Victoria by 20 per cent, from $8.20 to $9.84 per hour.
Paynesville Neighbourhood Centre is one of the 300 Learn Local organisations in Victoria and offers programs like Business Networking Skills, Jobs on Farms, Basic and Intermediate Computer Skills and Internet Research Skills.
Adult Learners Week, which will be held between 1 and 8 September, is an international celebration of lifelong learning, with events and activities held across Victoria to promote the benefits of lifelong learning.
