Backing The Committee For Maryborough

06 December 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is backing the Committee for Maryborough with a $50,000 grant to help the new organisation get established and make a positive impact on the economic and social well-being of the region.

Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford announced the funding in Maryborough today while meeting with members of the community and the new committee.

The Committee for Maryborough is a community-led group that has come together to build a positive future and develop strong, capable leaders in the wake of the dismissal of Central Goldfields Shire Council.

The funding will support the committee respond to challenges around economic development and community resilience.

The committee’s efforts will increase participation in local decision making, encourage a more diverse range of voices taking part and boost the economic opportunities of the region.

The Labor Government is also providing a $150,000 targeted leadership program in Central Goldfields Shire.

Community Leadership Loddon Murray and their partners – including Central Goldfields Shire, Go Goldfields and the Committee for Maryborough – will support 150 people to develop their skills and contribute to community groups and civic leadership in the Central Goldfields Shire.
