Residents in Melbourne’s booming outer suburbs can expect more parks, town hubs and playgrounds, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s $50 million boost to the Growing Suburbs Fund.
Minister for Local Government Marlene Kairouz is encouraging councils to submit their applications for the 2018-19 funding round, which is open 18 May to 9 July.
The funding will be used to build sports pavilions, family and community centres and other local projects in Melbourne’s ten interface councils – ensuring locals have the facilities and services they need, close to home.
The ten eligible councils are Cardinia, Casey, Hume, Melton, Mitchell, Mornington Peninsula, Nillumbik, Whittlesea, Wyndham and Yarra Ranges.
The Labor Government established the GSF in 2015 and it has since supported 116 projects, 44 of which have been completed.
