Accessible Sports Facility A Win For Williams Landing

04 December 2017

The Andrews Labor Government will deliver $1.9 million towards the construction of the Williams Landing Reserve Integrated Sports and Community Hub.

Minister for Local Government Marlene Kairouz announced the Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF) grant today, which will provide an integrated sports and community pavilion that is accessible for the whole community.

The pavilion will include four changerooms with showers and toilets, umpire’s rooms, community meeting spaces, a kitchen, public toilets, a first aid room, internal and external storage space and a cleaner’s room.

The pavilion will incorporate shared meeting and recreational spaces to support a more active, resilient and connected community in the rapidly growing Williams Landing and its surrounds.

The $3.81 million Williams Landing Reserve Integrated Sports and Community Hub project will be delivered by the Wyndham City Council in partnership with the Labor Government.

The GSF supports investment in critical local infrastructure in Melbourne's diverse and growing interface councils.

The Labor Government allocated $50 million over two years for the GSF through the Victorian Budget 2017/18.

The GSF has provided more than $14 million for projects in Wyndham City Council since it was established in 2015.

Local GSF projects include more than $1 million for the Tarneit Community Learning Centre transformation, $1.2 million towards a new integrated family learning centre in Truganina East and $200,000 towards the Saltwater Outdoor Youth space in Point Cook.
