A Bigger, Better Sports Precinct For Drysdale

17 August 2018

Families in Drysdale will be able to rely on great local sporting facilities, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver $5 million towards Stage Two of the Drysdale Sports Precinct upgrade.

Before the 2014 election, Labor committed $3.5 million to Stage One of the project, which saw construction of a new oval, a multipurpose field, cricket practice pitches, a relocatable pavilion and lighting installation.

With this work completed in early 2018 – and local sporting groups including the Drysdale Hawks Football Club, the Drysdale Cricket Club and the Drysdale Soccer Club already benefitting – a re-elected Labor Government will kickstart the next stage of much-needed upgrades.

Stage Two will see the creation of three rectangular playing fields located alongside a new multi-use pavilion, brand new play spaces and cricket training nets, better water storage and improvements to the access roads, car park and pathways.

In addition, $50,000 is being provided to fast-track planning on an updated masterplan to determine Stage Two and future stages.

Not only will this new build benefit these local sporting organisations, it will also provide a place for local families to share and enjoy. With these further upgrades from a re-elected Labor Government, local clubs – and this local community – will have the great local facilities they deserve.

The commitment builds on the Labor Government’s investments in community sport – the biggest in Victoria’s history – including $420 million for community sport.
