A Bigger, Better Jubilee Park For Frankston

10 October 2018

Families in Frankston will be able to rely on great local sporting facilities, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver $10 million towards a massive upgrade of Jubilee Park.

Right now, despite record levels of female participation and sporting success, local female athletes are forced to get changed in crumbling facilities.

At the same time, due to the inadequate size of the park’s netball courts, senior netballers are being forced to travel out of their local area to play the game they love.

The funding will go towards the implementation of the Jubilee Park masterplan, which includes a multipurpose stadium with courts for netball and an indoor cricket training hub.

The stadium will include six netball compliant sports courts, a 1000 spectator seat show court, female friendly change rooms and new function rooms.

The upgraded Jubilee Park will be utilised by local sporting clubs, with the Peninsula Waves VNL Netball Club, Frankston Peninsula Cricket Club and netball clubs across the Peninsula all set to benefit.

With these upgrades from a re-elected Labor Government, local clubs – and this local community – will have the great sporting facilities they deserve.

The commitment builds on the Andrews Labor Government’s investments in local sport including $85,000 for netball courts at Eric Bell Reserve, $100,000 for Peninsula Strikers FC, new cricket nets at Jubilee Park and $700,000 for new lighting at Skybus Stadium.

While the Liberals cut funding for hospitals and schools, and closed TAFE campuses – only Labor will invest in the projects our community really needs.

The Andrews Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.
