$5.7m Upgrade Underway At Warragul Regional College

01 March 2018

Students across the Warragul region will soon have the first-rate classrooms and facilities they deserve, with work now under way on a major upgrade at the Warragul Regional College.

Minister for Education James Merlino today turned the first sod to start construction on Warragul Regional College’s $5.8 million upgrade, which will help it deliver a 21st century education for its approximately 800 students at Warragul’s historic “School on the Hill”.

Builders 2Construct will complete the modernisation project, which will include construction of a new STEM hub, general purpose classrooms, a senior student study lounge, and breakout and collaboration areas.

Created through the merger of Warragul High School and Warragul Technical School, the “School on the Hill” has delivered secondary education to the Warragul community since 1911, making it one of Australia’s oldest secondary schools.

Due for completion in early 2019, the project is part of a $2.5 billion investment by the Andrews Labor Government in the past three Budgets to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.

This school building boom has delivered more than 1,200 school upgrades and 56 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
