World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards Coming To Melbourne

13 June 2016

Melbourne has been confirmed as the host city for the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards in 2017.

First published in 2002, the annual ranking of the world’s best restaurants has become the most reputable restaurant ranking in the world.

Melbourne now joins London and New York as the only cities to have hosted the awards program.

Tourism Australia and Visit Victoria are working in partnership with the World’s 50 Best team to create a program of high quality events.

The Melbourne program will take place in April 2017 and will include a chef’s feast gathering of the world’s best chefs; a main awards ceremony; and touring programs around Melbourne and regional Victoria.

The main awards ceremony will include 800 invited guests and will be made up of chefs, industry and top international food and wine media and influencers.

The event will once again put Melbourne on the world stage as a leading events and culinary destination.

Melbourne’s Attica, is Australia’s only top 50 restaurant on the list, and Brae was recently announced at number 65 in the top 100.

The announcement was made in New York at the 2016 awards events by Tourism Australia’s Lisa Ronson, and William Drew, World’s 50 Best Restaurants Group Editor.
