Victoria’s School Librarians Leading The Way On Digital Literacy

Minister for Education James Merlino today officially opened a conference set to showcase the role school libraries are playing in driving Victoria’s digital future and helping students to be their best.

The School Library Association of Victoria’s ‘It’s a Digital World’ conference will explore all aspects of what it means to be a student in the 21st century.

It will highlight the crucial role played by librarians and library teams in ensuring that students are able to safely and responsibly access high-quality digital resources and explore online learning communities.

National and international experts will showcase how the old school library model is transforming to meet the diverse needs of students, at a time when skills are more important than ever.

The Andrews Labor Government’s 2015-16 Victorian Budget invests close to $4 billion in Victoria’s education and skills system – representing the single biggest boost to education funding in Victoria’s history

For Victoria to become the Education State, it is vital that all Victorians join in the consultation and share their ideas and aspirations for our education system.
