Victorian Television Industry Set For A Boost Through Stronger ABC Initiative

10 June 2016

The Victorian television industry is set to continue its strong slate of production, with today’s announcement of a new initiative between Film Victoria and the ABC.

The ABC Content Initiative will help secure a pipeline of television titles over the next two years delivering an estimated $80 million in production expenditure in the state.

Victoria’s leading production companies – including December Media, Every Cloud Productions and Matchbox Pictures – will provide new and returning television projects across drama, comedy, documentary and online.

The first projects announced through the initiative are the fifth series of the popular The Doctor Blake Mysteries and a new eight-part drama series Newton’s Law, with more to be announced in the coming months.

The initiative will also feature professional development to ensure Victoria’s talented writers, directors and producers have the opportunities to enhance their skills.

An estimated 19 projects are expected to be supported over the next two years.
