I’m pleased to congratulate Simon McKeon on his new role as Chancellor of Monash University.
Mr McKeon brings over 30 years of business experience that culminated in his position as an executive chairman of the Macquarie Group.
In 2011, Mr McKeon was named Australian of the Year and he also serves as an Australia Day Ambassador for the Victorian Government.
I’d like to acknowledge the exceptional work of Dr Alan Finkel AO who severed as Chancellor for almost eight years.
I thank him for his long service to the university and I’m sure he will be missed.
Monash University has made a huge contribution to developing our best and brightest students, not only for the benefit of those individuals but for the benefit of the state, the country and beyond.
This is reflected by the university’s top 100 ranking in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016. This year, Monash University (73) rose 10 places from 2014-2015.
