Smythesdale CFA Receives A Major Boost

26 April 2015

Smythesdale CFA has received a significant boost with the opening of a new satellite station and presentation of a brand new truck today.

Minister for Emergency Services, Jane Garrett, officially opened the new Scarsdale satellite station which will assist the brigade in responding to incidents across the Smythesdale, Scarsdale and Ross Creek areas.

The new $265,000 satellite station will help ensure brigade members can continue to provide essential fire fighting and other services to local residents.

A new $360,000 four-wheel drive crew cab tanker was also presented to the brigade.

The new tanker can hold 2,350 litres and includes air conditioning, electric windows, air horn, fog lights, reversing camera and electric cab tilt.

Today’s event was also an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge brigade members for their length of service as well as presenting a number of National Emergency Medals.

With more than 75 members, the Smythesdale brigade plays an essential role in the local community.

Smythesdale is one of the older CFA brigades in the state with a history dating back to 1863.

Smythesdale regularly supports other brigades at major incidents and willingly travels across Victoria to provide additional support at large scale incidents.
