Small Business Programs Set For Take-Off

04 February 2016

More than 4,000 businesses across the state will have the opportunity to benefit from the Andrews Labor Government's 2016 Small Business Victoria Workshops program.

This year, more than 350 workshops will be held throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria as the program aims to improve access to small businesses throughout the state.

New and established business owners can attend practical workshops on more than 20 topics including starting a business, financial management, staffing issues, marketing and taking your business digital.

The Government delivers the Small Business Victoria Workshops program in partnership with host organisations including 42 local councils, industry associations and other not for profit groups.

For a small $30 fee, the workshops are delivered by small business experts who specialise in running and managing their own businesses, allowing participants to learn and network with other local small businesses.

Feedback from past programs have consistently shown that business owners benefit from the skills and capability training provided and those that have attended were also more likely to access mentoring and other programs, leading to better long-term outcomes for their business.

This year, for the first time, participants are able to access a series of online videos to get more information on the programs before signing up. Please go to www.business.vic.gov.au/workshopsExternal Link for more details.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade Philip Dalidakis

“Representing more than 97 per cent of the state’s businesses, Victoria’s small business sector is the backbone of our economy.”

We’re working to provide the ongoing services and support that these businesses need at a low cost, to help them grow, create more jobs and boost the local economy.”
