Shaping The Future Of Our Wimmera Southern Mallee

31 August 2016

Wimmera Southern Mallee locals now have an unprecedented chance to shape the future of their region.

Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford opened online consultation for the Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Partnership members, ahead of its first Regional Assembly to be held in Horsham on 5 October.

A new website launched by the Andrews Labor Government today will give rural and regional Victorians the chance to share their ideas about local opportunities and challenges across every government portfolio.

Each of the nine Regional Partnerships will host an assembly involving at least 100 people, including community members, Ministers, Members of Parliament and local government – coming together to discuss priorities for each region.

Wimmera Southern Mallee community members can register their interest in attending via the new website, which includes polls about local issues, links to strategic regional plans and more information about the Partnerships. Feedback received online will inform discussions at the assembly.

Following the assemblies, each partnership will deliver key recommendations straight to government through the new Rural and Regional Ministerial Committee, made up of seven members of Cabinet and chaired by Ms Pulford.

The Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Partnership includes the shires of Hindmarsh, Northern Grampians, West Wimmera, Yarriambiack and the Rural City of Horsham.

Expanding high-value agricultural production and strengthening government service provisions in health, education, aged care and disability are the types of issues which could be addressed by this Partnership.
