The Andrews Labor Government today awarded a Food Source Victoria scholarship to Shepparton-based Agtech professional Peter Moller, who will travel to Silicon Valley in March to learn about the latest in agricultural technologies and innovation.
The $20 million Food Source Victoria program supports regional Victorians working in agriculture and food production to enhance their business and export skills through training and professional development.
Mr Moller works for Rubicon Water and will use the $25,000 scholarship to undertake two training courses including the Stanford Innovation and Entrepreneurship Professional Certificate, and a Futures Thinking and Strategy Development Workshop.
He will also attend a Silicon Valley Forum Agtech Immersion Program and Agtech conference in California.
Rubicon Water’s advanced technology improves farming productivity by modernising gravity fed irrigation networks, enabling farmers to manage their water resources with unprecedented levels of efficiency and control.
The California study tour will help Mr Moller define strategies needed to grow Agtech opportunities in Victoria and develop links between the emerging Agtech sector in Melbourne and the farming community in Northern Victoria’s food bowl.
The scholarship will help the company with its business development and the growth of export opportunities for the Victorian irrigation equipment and Agtech sectors.
The Labor Government’s Food Source Victoria’s scholarship program helps individuals develop skills to meet the growing global demand for Victoria’s premium food products.
