A manufacturer of plastic products in Pakenham will create nearly 100 new jobs, all suitable for ex-auto workers, as the Andrews Labor Government gets behind local businesses and industries in transition.
Visiting Pakenham today, Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan announced Melbourne Rotomould had received a grant as part of the Local Industry Fund for Transition (LIFT) program.
Thanks to funding from LIFT, the company is expected to recruit 95 new workers and begin an $11 million expansion.
Melbourne Rotomould will design and build a new factory and invest in new equipment – including machinery for the roto-lining of large special-purpose chemical containers.
The company, which uses rotational moulding techniques, will also improve its productivity, capability and competitiveness and increase its product range.
The LIFT program – which received a $10 million cash injection in the Victorian Budget 2017/18 – helps workers, businesses and communities affected by the end of the local car manufacturing.
Already it has supported 29 projects that are expected to create 686 jobs – including 577 roles suitable for former automotive workers.
