Quality Kinders For Kids, No Matter Where They Live

27 April 2016

More Victorian families will be able to access quality kinders close to home, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s investment in early childhood services and infrastructure.

Included in the Victorian Budget 2016/17External Link , the Labor Government is investing $10 million to build kindergartens and children’s centres in fast-growing areas.

We want Victorian children to enjoy the lifelong benefits that quality early years education can provide and the new funding will ensure Victoria’s long-term early education and care needs are met.

That’s why we are offering major building grants targeted at Victoria’s fastest-growing areas, to build kindergartens and to create children’s hubs, bringing a range of children and family services under the one roof.

Offering family services together with childcare and kindergarten creates a one-stop shop for families, making accessing these programs more convenient.

The Labor Government is also investing $4.4 million over four years to give certainty to small kindergartens in rural communities.

Kindergartens perform a crucial service in supporting their local communities, yet their future is often uncertain in the face of fluctuating enrolments from year to year.

Small kindergartens in rural communities across Victoria will be eligible for increased funding to help them to remain strong, viable and affordable.

The Labor Government is making Victoria the Education State – and this means giving all kids access to high-quality early years services.
