Portland Prepares For The Future

The Andrews Labor Government is helping Portland in its efforts to build and diversify the local economy with a $45,000 grant towards the Portland Futures project.

Minister for Regional Development, Jaala Pulford, announced Regional Development Australia (RDA) Barwon South West’s funding contribution towards the Committee for Portland’s $110,000 initiative.

The project will use research and evidence to prepare a plan for the future. It will be managed by the Committee for Portland with support from the Glenelg Shire Council, the Andrews Labor Government and Regional Development Australia Barwon South West.

It will develop an updated demographic and economic profile of Portland, identify opportunities to diversify Portland’s economy, and recommend actions to local industry, state and federal governments.

The Portland Futures project is a joint venture between the Committee for Portland, Glenelg Shire Council and Federation University with Glenelg Shire Council and Federation University making in-kind contributions.
