Northern Victoria Jobseekers Gallop Into New Jobs

28 July 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is getting more jobseekers across Northern Victoria into meaningful work by backing local employment providers.

Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan today visited Kilmore Racing Club to announce more than $950,000 in new funding for Qualify to place an additional 100 people into work in the Hume and Great South Coast regions.

Qualify offers pre-employment training and employment services across regional Victoria, with the organisation receiving an initial government grant of $1.7 million.

The organisation has already placed about 100 jobseekers into work across regional Victoria – 13 of those in the Hume region.

Qualify specialises in connecting people with industries including hospitality, customer service, manufacturing, agriculture and business administration.

Among the recent success stories is Tristan Titley – a 21-year-old Seymour local who used Edge Workforce Qualify to secure a job as a groundsman at Kilmore Racing Club.

The Labor Government has invested $63 million in Jobs Victoria to help place more than 5,000 jobseekers into meaningful and sustainable work over the next four years.

Nearly $12 million will be spent to support employment providers state-wide under stage two of the program.

Jobs Victoria has already helped more than 1,550 long term jobseekers find work.
