Summary: Premier John Brumby and Minster for Innovation Minister Gavin Jennings announce a $14.7 million upgrade to the new beamline at the Australian Synchrotron at Clayton, which will allow scientists to research cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis more quickly and accurately.  The Premier also responds to questions regarding whether Victoria is in economic recession, Melbourne’s liveability rating, occupational health and safety, a proposed housing development on the site of the old Pentridge Prison, and swine flu.

Summary: Premier John Brumby joins Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard to announce that Victoria will lead the nation in putting some of the brightest university graduates into tough classrooms, with more than 200 applicants already registered to be among the first in Australia to be part of the new teacher recruitment program, Teach for Australia, which will begin in 2010.  They respond to questions about Richard Pratt’s health, and a riot by illegal immigrants at the Maribyrnong Detention Centre.  Ms Gillard answers questions about the global recession, WorkChoices, a new website featuring schools data, and TPVs.  The Premier responds to questions about water prices, fuel reduction burns, and crime statistics.
