New Appointments For Victoria’s Treasury Corporation

The Victorian Government has appointed Cassandra Kelly as the new Chair of the Board of the Treasury Corporation of Victoria (TCV), and Helen Thornton as Deputy Chair, effective from 1 July 2017.

Ms Kelly is currently a TCV board Member and Deputy Chair and replaces Robert Hunt, who recently tendered his resignation as the Chair and board director after more than seven years of service.

Ms Kelly has extensive experience advising on finance, risk, strategy and policy, is the co-founder and Chair of corporate advisory Pottinger and is an expert advisor to the G20/B20 on matters of digitalisation and health, and previously infrastructure, finance and growth.

Ms Kelly is a currently a director of The Resolution Project in the United States, is part of the leadership council for MS Research Australia, and is a member of the Federal Government's Treasury Inclusive Workplace Committee.

She was previously Chair of Allpress Espresso International and a director of Flight Centre Travel Group and UNSW Foundation, and has also held executive roles at Deutsche Bank and GMAC Commercial Mortgage.

Ms Kelly currently resides in New York and will personally meet the costs of her flights to and from board meetings.

The Victorian Government thanks Robert Hunt for his term as Chair and board director. Mr Hunt has made a significant contribution as a trusted adviser to the State, overseeing a period of sustained solid financial and governance outcomes at TCV.

The Victorian Government also looks forward to working with the TCV’s new Deputy Chair, Helen Thornton.

Ms Thornton has extensive experience in risk management, audit, finance, strategy and corporate governance. She has held a number of senior leadership positions in major corporations including BlueScope Steel, BHP Billiton and Deloitte.
