Music, Dance, Theatre And More Set To Tour Victoria

Contemporary dance, classical music and lauded theatre works are headed to regional and outer-metropolitan Victoria in 2017 with support from the Andrews Labor Government’s Touring Victoria program.

The Labor Government is funding $596,726 in grants to support 10 tours by Victorian companies – presenting more than 27 shows of various sizes and genres – in regional Victoria and outer metropolitan Melbourne in 2017.

Melbourne Chamber Orchestra will take its 2017 season of orchestral and chamber music to more than a dozen destinations throughout Victoria, including Traralgon, Portland, Swan Hill and Yackandandah. Orchestra Victoria will also present regional festivals in Hamilton and Bendigo in 2017.

Between them, contemporary dance company KAGE, The Australian Ballet and Melbourne City Ballet will present new solo dance works, ballet classics and artist development workshops at destinations throughout Victoria.

In theatre, Ilbijerri will tour its acclaimed production Coranderrk and Hit Productions will present the Australian theatre classic Hotel Sorrento at multiple destinations throughout Victoria.

Other presentations include a new play by Sandra Long that will tour during Mental Health Week 2017, The Village Festival Tour of its unique and visually striking multi-arts program to Benalla, and the Culture Café Series, a program of small-scale musical shows to numerous small towns across regional Victoria.

Touring Victoria provides support for Victorian arts organisations or artists to tour productions, performances, exhibitions or programs to regional and outer metropolitan Victoria, engaging more Victorians in cultural and creative endeavour through greater access to a range of professional works and events.
